University graduate Carla Bonnell began her songwriting career and guitar playing at the age of 14 in a small coal mining town on the east coast of Canada. Carla is influenced and inspired by many generations of musicians in her family, who have performed on the national television show Don Messer's Jubilee and shared stages with ZZ Top and George Fox. At a young age she was welcomed to the stage to perform with the popular east coastcal artists; Joey Knight and Shirley Myers.
Carla has fulfilled some of her musical dreams by performing across Canada from Coast to Coast. After winning many competitions, showcasing her musical skills at festivals in eastern Canada and performing on numerous broadcast telethons to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, she has captured the hearts of audiences far and wide with her passion-filled and emotionally charged vocals. Based in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, Carla has performed at various festivals including the Timmins Fall Festival and featured with the original showcase literary group "Timmins Voices", where she performed and was interviewed about her songwriting career. Bonnell's current group is touring the Northern Ontario circuit where she has grown a fan base of loyal followers who enjoy her entertaining performances. Some of these performances have included the legendary Billy Dean on guitar (Roy Orbison).
Carla Bonnell's christian upbringing have influenced her songwriting. Her commmittment to Jesus Christ is apparent in her lyrical creativity that delivers positive and glorious messages.
Carla’s debut original song recordings "Distant Thunder" and "Rhapsody Of The Rain" were recorded in Nashville with world-class accomplished session players that include; Pat Buchanan on guitar (Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Gretchen Wilson, Tim McGraw, Michelle Wright, Lee Ann Womack), Mike Brignadello on drums (Hank Williams Jr., Dolly parton, Mitch Ryder, George Canyon, Brooks & Dunn), Mike Rojas on keyboards (Bonnie Tyler, Gord Bamford, Reba McIntyre), Greg Morrow on drums (Sheryl Crow, Montgomery Gentry, Loretta Lynn, Joe Cocker) and Dianna Dewitt on backing vocals (Amanda marshall, Neil Young, John Tesh, Lorrie Morgan).
"Distant Thunder" and "Rhapsody Of The Rain" are being released to commerical country radio across Canada as a precursor to her upcoming full-length album release that will be released in early 2014. Carla continues write new songs relentlessly and is applying for showcasing opportunities at select music industry conferences across Canada, to further continue to develop her viability as a touring act.
